2009 Youth Slam
Once again, the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute coordinated the most dynamic gathering of blind youth in the United States. Blind and low vision high school students from across the United States took part in this five-day academy to engage, inspire, and encourage the next generation of blind youth to consider careers falsely believed to be impossible for the blind.

2010 Junior Science Academy
In 2008 for the first time, The NFB's National Center for Blind Youth in Science (NCBYS) offered a Junior Science Academy targeting children in grades three through six. This year, with hands-on experiences, tactile materials, and innovative nonvisual teaching methods, the Academy will open its doors to the youngest group of scientific explorers in NCBYS history. In addition, the Academy will have corresponding parent workshops to provide parents/guardians with the tools and knowledge that they need to help their child succeed.
