STEM-ulating Growth in New Fields Contest

Who

Students who participated in one of the following NCBYS programs: Science Academy 2004, Rocket On! 2004, Science Academy 2005, Rocket On! 2005, Science Academy 2006, Rocket On! 2006, Youth Slam 2007, Jr. Science Academy 2008, or Youth Slam 2009

What

A contest in which former NCBYS students submit creative entries illustrating what science means to them now. Entries can come in the following forms: a poem no more than 20 lines long, original song lyrics of no more than 20 lines in length, an essay 180 or fewer words in length, or a piece of tactile art. Tactile art entries must fit on a circle eight inches in diameter and must be light enough to be hung on the wall. Please note: contestants who submit tactile artwork will not get it back.

When

Contest entries are due no later than March 31, 2010.

Prizes

National recognition! The top ten entries will be displayed on the Accessible Bulletin Board in the Betsy Zaborowski Conference Room at the NFB Jernigan Institute. The top ten entries will also be featured on our Web site (www.blindscience.org) and in NFB publications. The creator of the top entry will receive a $25 gift card to iTunes.
